Winter Fashion for the Southerner

Despite popular opinion, we don’t skip winter in the south. We simply only have a few of those chilly days. I live in sunny south Florida where it rarely dips below 50 degrees, yet that doesn’t stop me from adapting winter styles to fit my lifestyle. Today I’m sharing a couple outfits from my winter wardrobe that are perfect for those southern temperatures.

Outfit 1: Sweater + Skirt Combo

My favorite winter combination is a light sweater and skirt pairing. I search for fabrics that are light enough to wear during the day but also gives off a winter vibe. This creamy sweater features a cowl neck and pompom print down the front. I’ve paired it with a pink denim skirt that keeps my legs cool. A typical Florida winter day is around 70 degrees, so I’ll usually pair this outfit with sandals.

Here is an alternative sweater without the cowl neck that is currently on SALE. This the AMUR Brie Crop Wool Sweater from Saks Fifth Avenue
I’m wearing the “Shine For Me” denim skirt in dusty pink by Pink Lilly Boutique

Outfit 2:

In this outfit, I’m wearing the same sweater but I have paired it with a faux suede skirt and boots. I love this skirt because it is butter soft and thin, so it doesn’t feel warm. I love light fabrics together because they look wintery without feeling heavy in the southern temperatures. Since the rest of the outfit is so light, I’ve paired it with a pair of boots. This is perfect for 60 degree weather.

The exact skirt I am wearing from Showpo is currently sold out so I will link a couple alternative options below.

This is the Sabrina Faux-Suede Wrap skirt from BCBG Maxazria and it’s on major SALE! It’s currently marked down from $168 to $39.99.
Though this skirt isn’t suede, it’s a great alternative because its made from linen. Linen is an even better fabric to wear in the south. This is the “
On the Borderline Skort” in natural linen from Showpo
Tory Burch ridding boots are a winter staple. They come out with new designs each year, so I can’t link my exact pair, but this is the same style. There are the Tory Burch Brooke Riding Boot. They’re also on sale from $498 to $299.

I hope you enjoyed these winter looks! Let me know how you like to keep up with the winter fashion in the warmer temps in the south! I’d love to know. Also, don’t forget to take advantage of those amazing sales!

Merry Christmas!
